One of the most important ‘archetype’ in the human psyche is ‘The Devil’ or Satan . He is seen as the personification of evil and leads humans to commit evil deeds contrary to the will of God .

From Wikipedia – Satan :

“Satan (Hebrew: הַשָּׂטָן ha-Satan), “the opposer”, is the title of various entities, both human and divine, who challenge the faith of humans in the Hebrew Bible . In Christianity the title became a personal name, and “Satan” changed from an accuser appointed by God to test men’s faith to the chief of the rebellious fallen angels (“the devil” in Christianity, “Shaitan” in Arabic, the term used by Arab Christians and Muslims) . In Islam, a shayṭān is any evil creature, whether human, animal or spirit. With the definite article, the Shayṭān is Iblis, the Devil .”

In most spiritual traditions, Satan is seen as the adversary of God who is in an eternal war with God over the human spirit . We are told we must guard against his subtle and cunning plans to entrap us into his evil ways . And pardon me, for being cynical but protection from Satan always seems to involve handing over wads of cash .

One of the characteristics of Satan is that he is always found outside of ourselves . He is seen as an external invisible being who manipulates humanity into his devilish tricks against God .

Actually, I believe in a kind of Satan but my ‘Satan’ is not found in the ether but within the Mind of humanity .
He is often described as the ‘adversary’ of God and this is a good definition . Within our mind, there is a part of us that wishes to remain separate from God and Life . It sees itself as isolated against a vengeful Old Testament type God who tells us we are ‘sinners’ and have sinned and it is this belief sytem that I would I describe as Satan .

The ‘Fall’ is the account of our imaginary separation from ‘All There Is’ with the birth of our Ego . It is impossible for there to be anything outside of ‘All There Is’ because that is ‘All There Is’ and even if we imagine ourselves to be separate and in a constant battle with Life, it is not the truth .

‘Satan’ stems from the belief in guilt . We think we are guilty and are ‘sinners’ but we project this outside of us onto to each other and symbols of this guilt such as Satan . There is no Satan and we are not sinners, forever damned in the eyes of God .

We/You/I are Innocence . We cannot be guilty because guilt does not exist in reality but in our Mind, and Satan is an example of this fevered imagination . ‘Satan’ is the result of our wish to be separate from God and this is a choice we make . Maybe, it is time we changed our Mind .

The Separation

From “A Course in Miracles” :

“The veil across the face of Christ, the fear of God and of salvation, and the love of guilt and death, they are all different names for just one error . That there is a space between you and your brother, kept apart by an illusion of yourself that holds him off from you, and you away from him .

The sword of judgment is the weapon that you give to the illusion of yourself, that it may fight to keep the space that holds your brother unoccupied by love .

Yet while you hold this sword, you must perceive the body as yourself, for you are bound to separation from the sight of him who holds the mirror to another view of what he is, and thus what you must be .”

All The World’s A Stage

New name and new theme ! (same url though, so need to change anything )

All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts .

William Shakespeare-“As You Like It”

‘All the World’s a Stage’ is no more than a statement of fact .  Our physical world is not real and it is all pretend . We pretend we are born and die, we pretend we are a man or woman and pretend it matters . It doesn’t matter, as there is no matter .

We believe we are bodies but this is only a role in the play . Like a Hollywood blockbuster, we produce war films, action films and rom coms as the tale of our lives and we imagine baddies who are our enemies . It’s the Jews, or the Blacks, or even the French – we always find others to play this part . At present, it seems ‘The Banksters’ are the cause of our misery .

We create our own identity and give ourselves stage names, and say John Smith is who I really am but it’s not true . It is only a name whilst you exist in this reality and has no meaning outside of it . In reality, we are Nothing or more accurately No Thing . We don’t have a name or body or anything, really . The closest description I can give to who we are is Life and nothing more, and that is All There Is, and we are All There Is, as well  .

We play make belief and say we are separate from each other and that we need things . We say we need money, work, relationships etc – none of it is true . We need nothing . Why would ‘God’ create a Universe where need or want exists ?

And we go through the play, fearing The End – the final curtain, but that is all Death is . Our role has ended and we leave the stage .

Our ‘reality’ is not real – all the seeming unpleasantness of the world is not happening . Nobody is hurt or dies and we can leave the play any time we choose . You are the Star .

Karma Chameleon

One of the aspects of spirituality which is misunderstood by many is the concept of Karma . With the ‘Banksters’ and war mongers, we have seen in recent years, I come across articles which say they will have to suffer the consequences of Karma . In many cases, this comes from a vengeful mind set which believes the focus of their dislike should be punished .

This view of Karma says what you put out will be returned to you but I don’t see Karma in the same light . Firstly, it could be seen as the act of punishment by a vengeful God who wishes to enact retribution . Now, even though I sometimes feel the same way about the current World I know that the real ‘God’ is incapable of thoughts and acts of vengeance . It is our ego projecting its own belief system onto God and in reality, there is no Karmic retribution .

The second reason why I don’t think this view of Karma is accurate is more practical . Our ego tells us the physical world is real but it is just an illusion . Nothing is really happening – the world is just our imagination come to life . So why would God set up a vengeful system when nothing has really happened .

I believe Karma is more to do with our belief system rather than some force outside of ourself . I think it is closer to this description of Karma by Deepak Chopra :

A very simple way to interpret karma is that it is conditioned response, the past influencing the circumstances of the present as well as our tendencies to act in conditioned patterns of behavior. We become bundles of conditioned reflexes constantly triggered by people and circumstances into predicted outcomes. Hence karma is considered to be a prison, a bondage. The goal of the spiritual journey is to escape the prison of karma and bring about the true response of our soul which is creativity .

Karma could be seen as a similar concept to Hell . When asked why guilty individuals don’t suffer Karma, the guru replies they will experience their fate in future lifetimes, which sounds remarkably similar to the Christian concept of Hell . But, in reality, there is no future and so, how could Karma be experienced ?

Karma is the result of our mind set which causes the physical experiences in our lives . We believe in Death, so we appear to die . We believe the phyical world is real, so we see a world of physical objects and so on . The World is just a thought .

There are no guilty offences we have committed and therefore, there is no need for vengeance or punishment even if God/Life/Universe wanted to enact retribution . It is only the mind of the human ego which believes in such concepts . We are Innocence and that cannot be changed .
