Substitute

Everything we see in this world is just a ‘Substitute’ for the real thing .

From ‘A Course in Miracles’ :

The world you see is vengeful world, and everything in it is a symbol of vengeance . Each of your perceptions of “external reality” is a pictorial representation of your own attack thoughts . One can well ask if this can be called seeing . Is not fantasy a better word for such a process, and hallucination a more appropriate term for the result ?

You see the world that you have made, but you do not see yourself as the image maker . You cannot be saved from the world but you can escape its cause . This is what salvation means, for where is the world you see when its cause is gone ? Vision already holds a replacement for everything you think you see now . Loveliness can light your images, and so transform them that you will love them, even though they were made of hate . For you will not be making them alone .

The Veil

From ‘A Course In Miracles’ :

The veil across the face of Christ, the fear of God and of salvation, and the love of guilt and death, they are all different names for just one error – that there is space between you and your brother, kept apart by an illusion of yourself that holds him off from you, and you away from him .

The sword of judgment is the weapon that you give to the illusion of yourself, that it may fight to keep the space that holds your bother unoccupied by love . Yet while you hold this sword, you must perceive the body as yourself, for you are bound to separation from the sight of him who holds the mirror to another view of what he is, and thus what you must be .

The saviour’s vision is as innocent of what your brother is as it is free of any judgment made upon yourself . It sees no past in anyone at all . And thus it serves a wholly open mind, unclouded by old concepts and prepared to look only on what the present holds . It cannot judge because it does not know .”

The Separation

From “A Course in Miracles” :

“The veil across the face of Christ, the fear of God and of salvation, and the love of guilt and death, they are all different names for just one error . That there is a space between you and your brother, kept apart by an illusion of yourself that holds him off from you, and you away from him .

The sword of judgment is the weapon that you give to the illusion of yourself, that it may fight to keep the space that holds your brother unoccupied by love .

Yet while you hold this sword, you must perceive the body as yourself, for you are bound to separation from the sight of him who holds the mirror to another view of what he is, and thus what you must be .”

Karma Chameleon

One of the aspects of spirituality which is misunderstood by many is the concept of Karma . With the ‘Banksters’ and war mongers, we have seen in recent years, I come across articles which say they will have to suffer the consequences of Karma . In many cases, this comes from a vengeful mind set which believes the focus of their dislike should be punished .

This view of Karma says what you put out will be returned to you but I don’t see Karma in the same light . Firstly, it could be seen as the act of punishment by a vengeful God who wishes to enact retribution . Now, even though I sometimes feel the same way about the current World I know that the real ‘God’ is incapable of thoughts and acts of vengeance . It is our ego projecting its own belief system onto God and in reality, there is no Karmic retribution .

The second reason why I don’t think this view of Karma is accurate is more practical . Our ego tells us the physical world is real but it is just an illusion . Nothing is really happening – the world is just our imagination come to life . So why would God set up a vengeful system when nothing has really happened .

I believe Karma is more to do with our belief system rather than some force outside of ourself . I think it is closer to this description of Karma by Deepak Chopra :

A very simple way to interpret karma is that it is conditioned response, the past influencing the circumstances of the present as well as our tendencies to act in conditioned patterns of behavior. We become bundles of conditioned reflexes constantly triggered by people and circumstances into predicted outcomes. Hence karma is considered to be a prison, a bondage. The goal of the spiritual journey is to escape the prison of karma and bring about the true response of our soul which is creativity .

Karma could be seen as a similar concept to Hell . When asked why guilty individuals don’t suffer Karma, the guru replies they will experience their fate in future lifetimes, which sounds remarkably similar to the Christian concept of Hell . But, in reality, there is no future and so, how could Karma be experienced ?

Karma is the result of our mind set which causes the physical experiences in our lives . We believe in Death, so we appear to die . We believe the phyical world is real, so we see a world of physical objects and so on . The World is just a thought .

There are no guilty offences we have committed and therefore, there is no need for vengeance or punishment even if God/Life/Universe wanted to enact retribution . It is only the mind of the human ego which believes in such concepts . We are Innocence and that cannot be changed .

The Dream

From ” A Course In Miracles” :

Dreams show you that you have the power to make a world as you would have it be, and that because you want it you see it . And while you see it you do not doubt that it is real . Yet here is a world clearly within your mind that seems to be outside .You do not respond to it as though you made it, nor do you realise that the emotions the dream produces must come from you .

It is the figures in the dream and what they do that seem to make the dream . You do not realise that you are making them act out for you, for if you did the guilt would not be theirs and the illusion of satisfaction would be gone . In dreams these features are not obscure . You seem to waken and the dream is gone . Yet what you fail to recognise is that what caused the dream has not gone with it .

Your wish to make another world that is not real remains with you . And what you seem to waken to is but another form of this same world you see in dreams . All your time is spent dreaming . Your sleeping and waking dreams have different forms and that is all . Their content is the same .

God’s Final Judgment

From “A Course In Miracles” :

“No one can escape God’s Final Judgment . Who could flee forever from the truth ? But the Final Judgment will not come until it is no longer associated with fear . One day each one will welcome it, and on that day it will be given him .

He will hear his sinlessness proclaimed around and around the world, setting it free as God’s Final Judgment on him is received . This is the Judgment in which salvation lies . This is the Judgment that will set him free . This is the Judgment in which all things are freed with him .

Time pauses as eternity comes near, and silence lies across the world that everyone may hear this Judgment of the Son of God” :

Holy are you, eternal, free and whole, at peace forever in the Heart of God . Where is the world, and where is sorrow now ?

PostScript :Of course, God’s Final Judgment is transgender and takes in both masculine and feminine or even those who are in the middle of changing sex . Everyone, in fact .

Youth Murdered Over Nike Trainers

Nothing shows up the dysfunction in the Mind of humanity better than two similar stories from the USA and Britain . In the USA police had to pepper spray customers who were fighting over Nike Air Jordan trainers .

From a Seattle policeman :

“Around 3 [a.m.] there started to be some fighting and pushing among the customers,” Murphy said. “Around 4, it started to get pretty unruly and officers sprayed pepper spray on a few people who were fighting, and that seemed to do the trick to break them up.”

Yesterday, in Britain it went one stage further when a youth was stabbed to death in Oxford St, London again over Nike trainers .

From Mail Online :

“The biggest sales rush in British history was marked by bloodshed yesterday as a teenager was murdered in a suspected row over a pair of trainers.

Bargain hunters looked on in horror as the 18-year-old was stabbed in a branch of Foot Locker on Oxford Street in central London” .

If an alien from outer space landed, he might surmise these trainers must have special powers which enabled you to fly or run as fast as Usain Bolt . But of course, they don’t – they’re just another pair of trainers .

This mad behaviour comes from the belief we NEED something . Once upon a time, we had everything but for some peculiar reason, we decided it wasn’t enough and hence our world of need, want and scarcity was born . We wanted something more than Life but this is actually impossible as Life is all there is .

It goes one stage further . Not only do we have everything, we are everything .

From “A Course In Miracles – Seek Not Outside Yourself” :

No one who comes here but must still have hope, some lingering illusion, or some dream that there is something outside of himself that will bring happiness and peace to him . If everything is in him this cannot be so . And therefore by his coming, he denies the truth about himself and seeks for something more than everything, as if a part were separated off and found where all the rest of it is not .

The physical world is an illusion and what we seek, for example the Nike trainers, does not exist and even when we obtain the object of our desire, the pleasure is only temporary and we seek again, for what we already possess, in something else .

Nothing outside of yourself will bring what you seek . No house, relationship, job, large bank balance or pair of Nike trainers can satisfy you .

Life is ‘All There Is’ and you are Life – why would you want anymore ?
