Good and Evil

Our Mind believes in Good and Evil . It attempts to divide different situations into either bad or good and the concept of the Law is based on this division in the Mind . In most countries, huge systems have evolved into attempting to decide what is the Law .

The Law is what we decide it to be but it is not fixed as we change our minds as to what is good or evil . For instance in the western world, homosexuality was banned until relatively recently but it is now legal in most western countries . However, in other countries it is still illegal and this demonstrates the Law is entirely subjective .

Murder is a crime wherever you go in the world, but this again is subjective . It is legal to kill someone in self defence or if you are a soldier or policeman in the course of their duties when it is OK . The Law is based on the judgement of mainly old men whose real goal is to protect the status quo .

Humans are the only animal who have this concept of right and wrong, black and white, God and Satan . Animals don’t appear to be concerned one way or another and just follow their instinctive behaviour patterns . If a Great White Shark was human it would be sentenced to Life in prison for crimes against the world but it is only following its unconscious biological drive.

What underlies this duality, is the belief in guilt . Our Mind believes something can be wrong, whereas in the eyes of the Universe, it just is . To the Universe, war is just the same as peace , the day just the same as night – it is only the part of our Mind which believes in guilt, which separates the two and this is only in the eyes of the observer . If you take the recent Football World Cup Final as an example . To the Spanish fans the result 1-0 to Spain was good and to the Holland team, it was bad but to the Universe ( and most women ) it was just a game of football .

The Law is just a projection of our guilt ridden Mind where we distinguish between good and evil and the idea of guilt comes from one simple belief the human race has deep down in its subconscious . We believe there is something wrong with us and that we are guilty . This is not our real belief or the Universe’ view of us, but a mistaken idea that we project onto the world and others .

Everything in the world is perfect and just as it should be . There is no part of the world which is not perfect and it is only due to this concept of guilt, that we believe we and others are imperfect . Our Ego depends on guilt for its survival as it allows us to separate the world into different objects which we can then call Good or Evil . Even our guilt is perfect !

There is nothing wrong with you or anybody else . You are completely perfect and you cannot be improved .

  1. This is one view of law…a different view of its underlying purpose, however, is compassion! People who have suffered immensely because of certain actions, desire to help others avoid the suffering they went through by making these actions illegal. The intent is, by making them illegal, people can be prevented from doing them, and those to whom they would be done will be spared of needless suffering. Law helps us learn collectively from our actions, so we don’t have to “reinvent the wheel” and rediscover tried and true outcomes with each new experience.

So, law is a flexible code based on empathy. It is not initially based on guilt, it is based on love. It doesn’t always translate that way in action however; it’s true the stigmatization of criminals happens, imposing on them guilt and negative sanctions that might make them feel unloved and unaccepted. It is really the suffering that they cause that is unloved and unaccepted, but this is often shifted onto the criminal, who might not even be conscious of the suffering their actions are causing (effective law helps them be aware however: first by teaching, and then if that doesn’t work, then by experience). A percentage of criminals unfortunately probably continue such acts precisely because they feel unloved and unaccepted. Others might continue because it is instinct. Instincts can, through longterm habit, change.

The description of the universe here is that of a passive, neutral, dispassionate one; no good or evil; and I’m extrapolating, no pleasure or suffering. The observer however, is active and passionate, feels pleasure and suffering, etc. As such, the observer desires to control their experience. There’s nothing wrong with this, and the universe even encourages it because, to a certain extent, it responds to our desires. If we desire suffering we might get more of it. If we desire happiness or freedom from suffering, we eventually get that too. The universe is very creative, and there are many possible ways it can produce the results we desire.

Some people don’t realize how the universe works and how they are making things happen to them or the effects of their actions upon others. They are “reinventing the wheel” over and over. It’s compassionate of us to gently teach them what we have learned, which they can accept or reject as they choose. This at least gives them the option of being spared the suffering others went through.

    1. Hi there – I’m glad you’ve found your way over to this blog . The pain and suffering you refer to are not caused by events but are already in the psyche and can be triggered by certain situations IMO . The Law is logical if you believe the Egos’s view of the world but luckily death, pain, loss do not really exist . -Frank .
